Sheffield remains a top choice for those doing the Overland Track as the place to spend the night prior to starting, being the nearest town to Cradle Mountain, just a 45-minute drive in the morning. Sheffield is popular for those parking at Lake St Clair and then taking our shuttle to Sheffield the day before. And for those wanting to go direct from Launceston Airport or Launceston to Sheffield the night before. Very popular with groups.

Sheffield has a range of good value accommodation. Popular for groups are the Pioneer Holiday Units with apartments that can sleep 10. The Sheffield Motor Inn for value and location. There are plenty more. Wsuggest book early for the best rates.

Enjoy leisurely breakfasts at Sheffield Bakery opening at 6am. For last minute supplies there is an IGA. The Sheffield Hotel is open 7 days a week and very popular for your last cooked meal before starting the Overland Track. And enjoy the murals.
